Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. I met my wife for the first time in 2012, and we were married in February of 2014. I spent five years in the Army as an Airborne Ranger. I was stationed with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, then 82nd Airborne. I am first a child of God, then a husband, then a father to three (so far) amazing children, and lastly a knife maker. My family now resides in China Spring, Texas, and are very happy to call this state and community ours. I am always trying to learn more and perfect my craft even more.
While stationed with 82nd Airborne in 2016, I was "voulentold" to make knives as parting gifts for soldiers that were either PCS'ing to a new unit, or were leaving the Army. I had zero experience, tools, material, or clue where to start in this process. My company commander was glad that I stepped up (was pushed by my squad leader), and said that they needed five blades by the end of next week. After many hours of "research" and frantically trying to find where to get the proper tools and what metal to use, I started making knives. While I started the craft as a duty that was assigned to me, I have since grown to love it and use it as a way to destress and find satisfaction in making things with my hands. As Psalm 128:2 says "When you shall eat of the labor of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you".
